Winter

On the slopes, ready, go!

The Lech Valley is one of the snowiest regions in Austria and turns into a real winter wonderland every winter. No crowds, no noise, but plenty of space for leisurely skiers and families: the Jöchelspitze ski area in Bach has guaranteed snow and enjoys a spectacular view of the Lechtal Alps.

Because most of the valley has not been developed for tourism, ski tourers will find quiet and often untouched slopes in a beautiful alpine landscape. Endless kilometers of cross-country trails lead through a dreamy landscape past charming small villages. This is what characterizes the cross-country skiing paradise in the Tyrolean Lech Valley! You can go on winter hikes, tobogganing, ice skating or enjoy the wonderful winter landscape on a horse drawn carriage ride.

As well as all this, it’s only a 25 minute drive up to the world-renowned Alpine ski resort of Warth am Arlberg, with a direct ski connection via Lech to St. Anton. Welcome to the winter wonderland of the Lech Valley!

The Jöchelspitzbahn in Bach

The Jöchelspitzbahn, a newly updated gondola lift, is located in our village of Bach. Far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the state-of-the-art 8-person gondola takes you comfortably up the mountain so you can enjoy a relaxed day of skiing. A snow-making system guarantees skiing fun in a lovely family-friendly ski area.

Warth/Schröcken and Ski Arlberg

Ski Arlberg has 88 skiifts, more than 300 kilometers of ski runs, 200 km of high-alpine ski runs and almost 11-meter average snowfall.  All this makes Ski Arlberg not only the largest linked ski area in Austria, but also the snowiest ski region. Warth-Schröcken is only a 25-minute drive from Bach and has a direct ski connection via Lech/Zürs to St. Anton. It is a real paradise for skiers, ski tourers, families with children and freeriders.

Cross-country skiing in the Lech Valley in Tyrol

Cross-country skiing through the natural river landscape of the Lech is a real joy. 190 kilometers of excellently groomed trails lead through the valley past small, idyllic villages. The "Bacher Feldrunde" cross-country ski trail leads almost directly past the front door of Hof Ida. The 40 km long "Lechtal Loipe" is divided into seven sections and leads from Steeg via Elbigenalp to Forchach.

Romantic ski tours in the Lechtal

Far away from alpine ski tourism, the Tyrolean Lech Valley is an Eldorado for ski tourers. Most of the Lech Valley is largely undeveloped for tourism. Here ski tourers enjoy quiet and often untouched slopes in a beautiful alpine landscape. Enjoy the stunning view after a demanding ascent and then the ski back down to the valley, often on powder snow slopes. The side valleys of Kaisers, Gramais and Hinterhornbach are also great starting points for wonderful tours.

Winter hiking and tobogganing in the Lech Valley

The Lech Nature Park region has lots of hiking trails which are cleared in winter. There are nine traditional mountain huts where you take a break and find a warm welcome. Sit by the warming stove and tuck into delicious local dishes. Things gets really exciting if you bring a toboggan up with you to a mountain hut for your descent back down into the valley.
